This holiday season, the St. François Girls’ College Alumnae Association’s Christmas Hamper Drive brought the spirit of giving to life, supporting our Little Sisters in need.
The second hamper drive for the school term brought in dozens of donated items, ranging from pasta and laundry detergent, along with over TT $1,200 in financial contributions. The funds allowed the Welfare Committee to purchase Christmas treats such as turkeys and hams, one of which was included in every package.
We must express our deepest gratitude to Class of ’86 for their hamper donations which truly made this venture a possibility. We would also like to thank VEMCO, Bryden PI and A.S. Bryden for their donations which, coupled with the hampers, really made each package complete.
While the support we received was deeply appreciated, we didn’t collect as many items as we had hoped from our members.
Indeed, the needs within our school community are significant, but so is our network of alums. As we look ahead to the next hamper drive, taking place towards the end of Term II, we ask all François Girls to embody the SFGCA spirit of service and fellowship and give whatever they can. Communication will be forthcoming with a list of very specific items which will be required at that time.
With the new year presenting a new start, we hope many more of you will take advantage of this fresh opportunity to make an impact and ensure no student is left behind.
The SFGCA extends its heartfelt gratitude to its Welfare Committee, the College’s Welfare Committee (Ms. Richardson, Mrs. Archer, Ms. Nicholas, Ms. Hillaire-Guerra and Mrs. Worrell-Thomas), corporate donors and all our alumnae who donated to the drive. Your generosity allowed us to deliver much-needed assistance to ten St. François students and hopefully make their holidays a little brighter.
To those who couldn’t participate this time, we encourage you to join us next term. Remember, every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference!
